Anchorage Digital buys payments firm Routable, plans stablecoin and tokenized deposit offerings

Routable will operate under a new brand, and The Defiant reports the stablecoin and tokenized deposit offerings will roll out over the coming quarters

Anchorage Digital has bought Routable, a deal The Defiant frames as adding corporate payment rails to the acquirer. Routable will operate under a new brand, the same report says, with integrated stablecoin and tokenized deposit offerings rolling out over the coming quarters.

That is very nearly the whole of what the coverage contains: a rebrand, a pair of payment products, and a schedule counted in quarters. The report does not disclose what Anchorage paid, how the consideration was structured, what Routable's business looked like before the sale, how many people the combined firm employs, or what the new brand will be called. Both offerings are described as rolling out rather than live, which suggests the products carrying the deal's stated rationale are still being built. A treasury or payments team sizing this should read it as a plan rather than as capacity installed.

The word carrying the most weight in that sentence is "integrated." Two offerings arriving together under a single brand points at one corporate-facing front end rather than two product lines sold separately, and the coverage does not say how they will be packaged, who will be eligible to hold them, or whether a corporate customer would encounter both at once.

Everything that would size the deal remains absent, which means the first evidence of whether it worked will be commercial rather than reported. Three specifics are worth watching: the new brand, the first launch date, and whether the stablecoin and tokenized deposit products arrive as a pair or one ahead of the other.
