BitMine holds staked ETH at 5.07M as treasury grows
The miner's staked position has been flat for four weeks while its holdings march toward 5.9M ETH; the unstaked 834,000 ETH is the capital that will test MAVAN.
BitMine Immersion Technologies reported 5,067,309 ETH staked as of Aug. 30, a position valued at $12.7 billion at an ETH price of $2,511, according to its latest staking disclosure as reported by The Defiant. That staked balance has not moved in four weekly readings even as the company acquired another 53,501 ETH and took total holdings to 5,901,112 ETH, leaving roughly 834,000 ETH sitting outside validation, a gap now more than fifteen times the size of last week's purchase and the real test for MAVAN, the in-house 'Made in America Validator Network' BitMine launched in April.
The treasury now holds 4.9% of Ethereum's 120.7 million supply, about 134,000 ETH short of BitMine's stated 5% goal, and the staking operation's seven-day annualized yield of 2.63% implies $335 million in yearly staking revenue, a figure BitMine says would rise to $390 million if the entire 5.9 million ETH balance were staked through MAVAN and its partners. Those figures are annualized from a seven-day rate, not full-year results, and the disclosure does not identify the $335 million as customer fee income, nor does it break out how much ETH runs on MAVAN.
Before the April launch, BitMine said it was working with three staking providers; the April disclosure, cited by The Defiant, said only that a portion of the 3,334,637 staked ETH was on MAVAN then, without specifying the amount. The staked balance's trajectory is more measurable: it stood at 4,879,157 ETH in early July, crossed five million by Aug. 9, and has now held flat for four consecutive weekly readings. Chairman Tom Lee says BitMine has staked more ETH than any other entity, a claim The Defiant could not independently assess because the disclosure provides no comparison set.
The stated 5% goal is effectively a commitment to stake the remaining 834,000 ETH, and the flat weekly readings suggest the company is letting the treasury outpace validation. GnosisDAO voted this month to retire its validator set and end its treasury's staking subsidy, a reminder that staking yield is a policy choice; BitMine is running the opposite experiment. The next disclosure's MAVAN share will show whether the in-house network can absorb that 834,000 ETH without cutting the 2.63% yield.
