Near lists Ondo's tokenized stocks, off the record and offshore

The wallet rail captures volume outside the U.S. perimeter; the broker-dealer's Fund/SERV connection is the piece no chain can replicate.

Near.com began offering Ondo Finance's tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs on Tuesday, The Defiant reported, payable in crypto held across more than 30 networks, and the tokens are not available to U.S. persons or in Canada. NEAR rose 7.1% over 24 hours.

The exclusions read as the design rather than a footnote, because a venue barred from selling to Americans and Canadians is selling to the population that already holds coins across those networks and wants an equity tracker without wiring dollars to a broker; confidential execution is what makes the trade tolerable, since a public ledger would put every position on display. Nothing in the arrangement requires a U.S. license, and that is likely the point while the SEC's five-year tokenized-stock exemption stays temporary and revocable.

Distribution is the other half of this, and Ondo is working both ends of it; six days earlier, the firm's broker-dealer joined Fund/SERV, the fund industry's settlement and distribution network — the first tokenization participant on a pipe that predates the current debate, bought with no fund, distributor, or launch date attached. A wallet listing and a Fund/SERV seat are different wagers on the same question: who holds the customer once a tokenized share changes hands.

The Fund/SERV seat is the asset worth paying for, because wallet integrations are cheap to build and cheap for a competing chain to copy, while membership in the network fund distributors already use is neither and is the piece that outlasts whatever the SEC decides about tokenized-equity venues. The rulebook migrated to the agencies once the Clarity Act died at 49-50, as this publication has argued; the corollary is that the distribution layer gets built outside the U.S. perimeter while the agencies deliberate, and the offshore rail is where volume shows up before the venue question is answered.

The detail worth tracking is dull: whether a fund names itself on Ondo's Fund/SERV connection, and which distributor signs it. NEAR's 7.1% moved on a listing; a launch date attached to the pipe would be the harder number to move.
