U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs posted $487.1 million of net outflows on Wednesday, the most since June 25, according to SoSoValue data reported by CoinDesk.

October is down $165.6 million after roughly $2.65 billion of net inflows in September. The six sessions before Wednesday swung between small inflows and outflows.

CoinDesk's analysis describes Wednesday's outflow as unusually large: about 2.1 standard deviations below the average daily flow of the past 90 days, which has been roughly $92 million of net inflows.

A $717 million year against a $487 million day

Cumulative net inflows since the funds began trading in January 2024 stand at $57.33 billion. The 2026 total is $717 million, which CoinDesk calls a thin cushion over zero.

Two more sessions of $487.1 million outflows would push the year-to-date figure below zero.

Wednesday's outflow came roughly two weeks after the category's biggest inflow day in eleven months. This publication reported that the earlier inflow followed a Senate cloture loss and a Fed rate rise. BlackRock, Ark and Fidelity took nine-tenths of the money. CoinDesk's read is that the weakening ETF bid, which it calls a major source of demand during the August-September rally, could prove costly from here.
